The Nationals Member for Gippsland South Danny O’Brien is pleased to see that work has begun on building a new jetty at McLoughlins Beach.
Mr O’Brien said the campaign to save the existing jetty had been a long one and having it replaced will be a great boon for the local community, fishermen and boaties from across Gippsland and the local tourism sector.
“I was pleased we were able to secure funding for the jetties reconstruction in the budget a few years back, and although it’s taken a while to get here, I’m glad to see that work has now begun.
“It’s a credit to the McLoughlins Beach Residents and Ratepayers Association, the Angling Club and everyone who contributed to the campaign to rebuild the jetty.”
Mr O’Brien said the new jetty is expected to be completed by March next year.
