The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien, has congratulated local volunteers and community groups after 13 projects across the electorate of Gippsland South secured more than $358,000 through the latest round of the Tiny Towns Fund.
Projects in Mirboo North, Hallston, Manns Beach, Willung, Meeniyan, Poowong, Port Franklin, Buffalo, Korumburra, Devon North, Tarwin Lower, Dumbalk and Welshpool will receive funding for upgrades to community facilities, halls, recreation reserves and public spaces.
Mr O’Brien said the funding success was a credit to the local committees and volunteers who had worked hard to prepare applications and advocate for their communities.
“These projects are a reflection of the passion and dedication of local people who give their time to make our communities stronger,” Mr O’Brien said.
“In many of our smaller towns, these facilities are the backbone of community life, and these upgrades will help ensure they remain well-used and valued local assets for years to come.”
Mr O’Brien said he was particularly pleased to support successful applications from the Mirboo North and Korumburra Scout Groups by providing letters of support for both projects.
“The volunteers behind these applications put in a tremendous effort and it’s fantastic to see that hard work rewarded.”
Mr O’Brien said the funding highlighted the importance of ensuring regional Victoria receives its fair share of government investment.
“Every upgraded hall, community kitchen, recreation reserve or local facility helps keep our small towns vibrant and connected.
“I congratulate all successful applicants and thank the volunteers whose hard work has helped secure these important projects.”
