Local clubs score TAC road safety grants

The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien has congratulated several local football and netball clubs on their successful applications to this year’s TAC Club Rewards Program.

The program, delivered in partnership with AFL Victoria, encourages clubs to promote safe driving habits among members and the wider community.

Mr O’Brien said he was happy to see Gippsland South clubs recognised among 316 clubs statewide that will share in $700,000 in funding to support road safety initiatives.

“This year’s program set clubs the task of starting conversations around the dangers of speeding, under the campaign tagline ‘Be the Difference’,” Mr O’Brien said.

“Our local clubs have once again shown great leadership by getting behind this important initiative.

“Road safety is something that impacts everyone and I am proud of the effort our clubs have made to help spread this lifesaving message.”

Local successful clubs include:

  • Cowwarr Football Netball Club
  • Fish Creek Football Netball Club
  • Korumburra-Bena Football Netball Club
  • Meeniyan Dumbalk United Football Netball Club
  • Poowong Football Netball Club

Mr O’Brien said the grants can be used for a range of projects to support safer road use, including education programs, club transport initiatives, new equipment and uniforms.

“I congratulate all involved at these clubs for putting in the work and for being part of a campaign that genuinely makes a difference.”
