Gippsland South pubs win big at hospitality awards

The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien with Jeremy and Tori Green and staff from The Star Hotel Sale as they celebrate their People’s Choice Award for the second year.

Gippsland South pubs and hotels were well-represented among the finalists and winners at the 2024 Australian Hotels Association Victorian State Awards for Excellence.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien said he was lucky enough to be in attendance to see our high achieving local pubs receive some well-earned recognition.

“We all know that Gippsland pubs are great pubs and the AHA State Awards provided an opportunity for the whole state to realise just how wonderful they are,” Mr O’Brien said.

“This is a fantastic and well-deserved outcome for a number of our great local pubs and hotels and their staff.”

The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien with Ben and Elyse Fisher and staff from The Middle Pub Korumburra as they celebrate their multiple wins including Regional Hotel of the Year.

The big winners of the night were the team behind The Middle Pub Korumburra which was named Regional Hotel of the Year and also picked up the coveted Parma of the Year and Best Outdoor Experience.

The Star Hotel Sale also brought home the gold with the People’s Choice Award for the second year running while Poowong Hotel was awarded Best Regional Pub Bar.

The recently re-opened Welshpool Hotel won an award for Top Supporting Pub for Good Friday Appeal fundraising.

The Woodside Beach Hotel was also a finalist for Bush Pub of the Year.
