Clean Up Australia Day will take place on Sunday 1 March 2026 with communities across the nation once again coming together to help protect and care for the environment.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is encouraging locals to get involved following the strong success of last year’s clean-up efforts across the region.
“Last year we saw fantastic community support for Clean Up Australia Day with local clean-ups held at Golden Beach, Sale, Venus Bay and Poowong, involving schools, scouts, community groups and volunteers of all ages,” Mr O’Brien said.
“These events showed what can be achieved when communities work together to look after our beaches, waterways and town centres.
“I’m encouraging local schools, community groups, sporting clubs and businesses to build on that momentum and plan a clean-up for Clean Up Australia Day 2026.
“We live in one of the most picturesque electorates in the state and Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to give back to the environment and take pride in our local area.
“While Clean Up Australia Day is officially held on 1 March, groups can plan a clean-up on any date that suits them and still be part of the 2026 event.”
Anyone interested in organising a clean-up or getting involved is encouraged to start planning now and help make Clean Up Australia Day 2026 another success.
