Better facilities needed at Tarwin Lower rec reserve

The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is working with the Tarwin Lower Recreation Reserve Committee of Management to help deliver more female friendly facilities at the Reserve.

Mr O’Brien recently met with Rec Reserve Committee representatives and Tarwin Sharks Football Netball Club members to discuss the needs of the facility.

Mr O’Brien said existing outdoor toilets were outdated and needed replacing, while there are currently no sufficient changerooms for netballers, female footballers and female umpires and officials.

“It was good to catch up with those involved in the rec reserve and get a better understanding of the needs of the facility.

The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien with (l-r) secretary of the Tarwin Sharks Football Netball Club, Brian Launder, netball coordinator Deb Griffin and Tarwin Lower Recreation Reserve Committee President Dean Ellen.

“With the growth in female football, a strong netball contingent at Tarwin Sharks and more and more female umpires we do need better facilities.

“There are a number of State Government funding programs that may suit, so I’ll work with the volunteers at Tarwin Lower and the government to help improve facilities at the reserve.”
