Many local sporting clubs and community groups are celebrating after securing funding under round one of the 2025–26 Sporting Club Grants Program.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien congratulated the successful clubs on their funding and is encouraging those that missed out to apply for round two.
“Local sporting clubs bring people together, keep us active and provide opportunities for people of all ages to get involved,” Mr O’Brien said.
“It is fantastic to see so many Gippsland-based clubs successful in this round.
“This funding will make a real difference, whether it is improving facilities, purchasing uniforms or equipment or supporting volunteers.”
Successful Gippsland South recipients in round one include:

- Gippsland Lakes Roller Derby
- Gormandale Football Netball Club
- Korumburra Golf Club
- Leongatha Girl Guides
- Maffra Sale Motorcycle Club
- Mid Gippsland Football Netball League
- Rosedale Junior Football Club
- Sale Little Athletics Centre
- South Gippsland Umpires Association
- Toongabbie Cricket Club
- Wellington Hockey Club
- Woodside Public Hall Committee of Management
- Gippsland Regional Sports Academy
Mr O’Brien urged local clubs that missed out in this round to consider applying for the next opportunity.
“Round two of the Sporting Club Grants Program opened on 25 February and will close on 7 April 2026.
“I would love to see more local clubs benefit from this funding stream.”
