The latest round of the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF) has seen four Gippsland South based cricket clubs receive funds for much-needed works.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien said he was delighted to hear that the Koonwarra Leongatha RSL, Leongatha Town, Longford and Toongabbie cricket clubs were among the 60 projects chosen to be funded by ACIF.

“Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria have provided a total of $1.4 million which will be shared across the 60 successful clubs.
“Many of these projects are being jointly funded across different levels of government and in total represent a $22.1 million investment in grassroots cricket.”
Mr O’Brien said each of the four clubs had a very worthy project and that he was excited to see the completed works.
“Longford Cricket Club are constructing a new shelter and Koonwarra Leongatha RSL Cricket Club will be completing refurbishing works to its three existing synthetic training nets, while Toongabbie Cricket Club will be replacing its synthetics nets and constructing an undercover training facility with floodlighting.
“The Leongatha Town Cricket Club, which is based at Leongatha Secondary College West Campus, will be completing refurbishing works as well as constructing an extension to its existing pavilion including additional changerooms for players and amenities for supporters.
“It is fantastic news that the not only the club members, but the students and wider school community will also be able to benefit from this project and I am grateful to the members of Leongatha Town Cricket Club for their tremendous effort in bringing this project to fruition.”
Mr O’Brien congratulated all four clubs on their successful applications and said he encourages all Gippsland South cricket clubs in need of further works to begin putting their applications together for the next round of grants which open on 3 February 2025.
