Statement on Commonwealth Bank Korumburra
“The Commonwealth Bank’s decision to close its Korumburra branch is very disappointing and a slap in the face for customers who have been with the bank for many years.
“It’s particularly difficult for business customers who need to deal with cash, especially after the closure of the NAB in 2016.
“Given the Commonwealth made a $9.6 billion profit last year, it’s hardly in need of some cost-cutting.
“However, with more and more people banking online – a practice the banks actively encourage – branch closures are not surprising.
“I encourage anyone who needs access to a branch to switch their accounts to the Bendigo Bank, which not only maintains a branch in Korumburra, but actively supports our local community.”
