Opposition Leader backs Sale College consolidation
State Opposition Leader, Michael O’Brien, has thrown his support behind plans for a consolidation of Sale College onto one site.
When he visited recently Mr Michael O’Brien was briefed by The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien about the campaign to redevelop the College.
Mr Danny O’Brien said it was important to have the alternative Premier’s support for his campaign for better facilities at the school.
“We’ve been campaigning for two or three years now to get the ball rolling on consolidation of Sale College onto one campus.
“At this stage we just need funding for the development of a master plan, which can help the school and the Sale community decide what the best options are.
“They include consolidation of the two campuses onto the existing Guthridge campus or relocation to a new greenfield site and construction of an entirely new school.
“We need this planning money to help make these decisions and work in with Wellington Shire Council, other schools and the whole community on what’s best for the town going forward.
“I’m particularly focused on ensuring that our public school secondary students have the best facilities available.
“And I know the school is currently concerned about the difficulty of educating students across two campuses.
“I’ll continue to fight for funding for a master plan in this year’s budget and am pleased to have been able to explain the need to Michael O’Brien and have his support.”
