O’Brien tackles local power outages
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien, has tabled a petition in State Parliament from residents in the Gormandale and Carrajung areas who are angry about continual black outs and brown outs in their district.
The petition was tabled following a meeting that Mr O’Brien organised with local residents at Carrajung Lower last week with representatives from AusNet Services.
“People in the area have endured a number of very long black outs towards the end of last year and a continual stream of short outages that have caused inconvenience and in some cases, led to damage to household appliances.
“I’ve had a number of people come to me over this issue in the last few months which have cumulated in organising this meeting.
“AusNet Services has indicated that it did have a significant fault in the area which it believes it has now rectified and it has some other work coming up soon that will hopefully ameliorate the brief outages that have been experienced.”
Mr O’Brien said the petition signed by 57 people to the Victorian Energy Minister, the Hon Lily D’Ambrosio seeks her support to ensure a decent power supply in the region.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien and representatives from AusNet Services, Derek Walton and Gareth Downes met with members of the community frustrated with continual black outs and brown outs in their district, Norm Ripper, Megan Oates, Susan Casey and Malcom Wilcock.
