The Nationals Yarram Mobile Office Danny O'Brien Alberton wind farm Your Future Your Say community engagement listening post
Local issues on O’Brien agenda during visit
Issues ranging from native forestry jobs through to the proposed Alberton Wind Farm and action on climate change were among those raised by Yarram and district locals with The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien this week.
Mr O’Brien was in town for a scheduled listening post as part of his Your Future, Your Say program of community engagement.
Mr O’Brien held open-door sessions at Yarram Neighbourhood House and Yarram Country Club as well as an informal listening post outside a local supermarket.
“Despite the heat, it was pleasing that quite a number of people came to talk to me about issues they are concerned about and things they want to see for our future,” Mr O’Brien said.
“I believe it is important that I am available in local communities and Yarram was the last in a series of listening sessions that I’ve held right across the electorate over the past two months.
“The Your Future, Your Say campaign has also involved a community survey and online feedback form which gives people the opportunity to tell me what they want for our future. The survey can be completed online at www.danyobrienmp.com.au/survey
“In Yarram there remains opposition to the proposed Alberton wind farm and concern from many locals about the Andrews Labor Government’s decision to end native forestry in Victoria.
“I’ll be collating the suggestions of the community and using them to help develop a plan for Yarram and Gippsland’s future.”
