Gippsland TAFE is coming to town
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South Danny O’Brien says it’s a case of better-late-than-never following the start of works on the new $25 million Port of Sale campus of TAFE Gippsland.
Mr O’Brien said there had been a concerted community campaign of well over a decade to relocate the TAFE’s Fulham Campus into the Sale city area.
“This is a project that I have been working with the community to bring the Andrews Labor Government on board with since being elected as the Member for Gippsland South,” Mr O’Brien said.
“I launched a petition to secure the funding for the move many years ago and The Nationals committed to a new campus in Sale in August 2017.
“Finally, the Labor Government matched our commitment in May 2018 – now two years on it is starting to look promising that the new TAFE campus will be up and running for 2022.
“I know the Wellington Shire and the Sale community are very keen to see this project come to fruition.
“We need better facilities for training in Sale and I’m glad we’ll be getting them – eventually.”
