Children’s Week Grants available
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is encouraging local governments and not for profit agencies that support children in our community to apply for Children’s Week grants.
Mr O’Brien said Children’s Week recognises the talents, skills, achievements and the rights of children living in our community.
In 2019 the theme for Children’s week is a celebration of the right of all children to be healthy, safe and happy, based on Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
“The grants are $1000 in value and are designed to help fund free celebrations and activities such as open days, education programs and displays and special events throughout Children’s Week in Victoria,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Children’s Week activities are only limited by the imagination but can include art workshops and exhibitions, outdoor and messy play activities, dance and drama workshops, musical performances and even sport and recreational activities.”
Grant guidelines state the activities must be offered free of charge and be hosted with Children’s Week in Victoria and involve multiple children from early childhood institutions and/or schools.
In 2019 Children’s Week will be celebrated between Saturday, 19 October and Sunday, 27 October 2019.
Children’s Week funding applications close on 5 July 2019.
