ViPlus plant a huge South Gippsland success story
A massive success story is unfolding in South Gippsland.
That’s the view of The Nationals Member for South Gippsland, Danny O’Brien after his most recent visit to Toora’s ViPlus Dairy plant.
Mr O’Brien said ViPlus was doing amazing things at the plant with 140 staff now employed across a 24/7 operation.
“The milk powder and formula boom into China and other parts of the world has been well-documented and Toora and ViPlus are making hay while the sun shines.
“I’ve been blessed to watch the development of this plant over my five years in Parliament and am astounded that they are now employing 140 people from across Gippsland.
“We all remember when the Bonlac plant closed in the 2000s and few would have ever expected it to reopen, let alone be employing as many people as it is now.
“It’s interesting to see the packaging operations underway at ViPlus where the clean, green Australian brand is clearly a key selling point into China and other markets.”
Mr O’Brien said the plant was giving economic opportunities and putting food on the table for dozens of local families and others from further afield.
“After recently winning the Food & Fibre Gippsland Excellence in Exporting Award, ViPlus is getting some of the recognition it deserves, and I hope it goes from strength to strength.”
