Unused nappies to good use
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien, was delighted to be able to hand over more than 870 nappies of various sizes and brands to Uniting Gippsland last week.
Mr O’Brien collected the nappies at his office as a drop-off point for the Nappy Collective Giving Project, which distributes unused nappies to families in need.
“Again, I am overwhelmed at the generosity shown by locals, many people dropped off unopened packets that they had purchased for the sole purpose of donating to this cause, which shows what a generous community we live in."
Mr O’Brien said he will continue to be a participant in the Nappy Collective Giving Project and that the next formal collection drive will take place in October, however he is happy for people to continue to drop off donations of unused nappies to his Sale office at any time.
“One of the great things about this project is the nappies are distributed locally, it’s a simple way we can support families in need.
“Many of us donate clothes and toys as our children grow to charities, it’s great that we can also pass on the half open pack of nappies as well.
“Even though this collection has come to an end, donations can be dropped off anytime and if you can’t get to my office in Sale, give us a call and we can find a collection point closer to you.”
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien, hands over the nappies to Cijo Kuriakose, Practice Leader, Uniting Gippsland.
