O’Brien hands over nappy donations
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien, was delighted to be able to hand over more than 700 nappies of various sizes and brands to St Vincent De Paul Society last week.
Mr O’Brien collected the nappies at his office as a drop-off point for the Nappy Collective Giving Project, which distributes unused nappies to families in need.
“Every year I continue to be overwhelmed at the generosity shown by locals, many of whom dropped off unopened packets that they had purchased for the sole purpose of donating to this cause, which shows what a generous community we live in."
Mr O’Brien said he will continue to be a participant in the Nappy Collective Giving Project and that the next formal collection drive will take place in October, however he is happy for people to continue to drop off donations of unused nappies to his Sale office at any time.
“One of the great things about this project is the nappies are distributed locally, it’s a simple way we can support families in need,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Many Gippslanders have been really doing it tough lately with the ongoing drought having a large impact on our community, so it’s great to be able to help in any way that we can.
The Nappy Collective is happy to accept donations of any unused disposable nappy regardless of brand or size. Open or brand new packets are equally appreciated.
