New heavy tankers for Sale and Korumburra CFA
Two local CFA brigades will benefit from the supply of new heavy tankers being delivered as a result of design and planning works undertaken by The Nationals when in government.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South Danny O’Brien confirmed today that Sale and Korumburra brigades will receive new heavy tankers this year.
“These tankers are two of 40 that will be rolled out across the state over the coming year to bolster our firefighting resources,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This is great news for the hardworking volunteers at Sale and Korumburra and a legacy of The Nationals significant $65.8 million investment in CFA infrastructure and resources while in government.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the remarkable and selfless job our CFA volunteers do in protecting their community from fire and I know that the new tanker will be a great asset to our local brigades.”
Mr O’Brien said the new truck – an Iveco heavy tanker crew cab (4x4) – would be fitted with large LED tank level lights, a multi-function ladder and 50L fresh water tank to enable fire crews to perform their job better.
“These tankers provide a new level of service and improved safety measures, meaning that those using these vehicles will be safer while undertaking their job,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This will also mean that these communities and the surrounding areas will be better protected from the threat of fire throughout the year and particularly in the drier summer months.
“I am proud of the commitment we made to the CFA and its volunteers in government and I am pleased to see that the new vehicles are finally being delivered across the state.”
