Mirboo North Pool works taking shape
An extraordinary collaboration between the Mirboo North community, federal, state and local governments is beginning to bear fruit at the Mirboo North swimming pool.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien called in recently to inspect works at the site of what is a significant redevelopment of one of Gippsland’s best-loved swimming pools.
“The Mirboo North community has done an amazing job in fundraising $1 million to help the redevelopment of its outdated pool complex,” Mr O’Brien said.
“With significant contributions from the federal government thanks to Russel Broadbent, Member for Monash, the state government and a big injection from South Gippsland Shire Council – this is a very big project.
“It is a great show of the Mirboo North community spirit that so much money has been raised from the community itself. This has included the work of Friends of Mirboo North Swimming Pool and individuals such as young Riley Parker.
“The Mirboo North Swimming Pool is one of the most beautiful locations in Gippsland and remains a tourism drawcard for the town.
“While the cost of the redevelopment is significant, I look forward to it being completed and seeing Mirboo North get one of its wonderful community facilities back.”
