Community invited to attend Parliament Open Day
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South Danny O’Brien has invited residents in Gippsland South to visit Parliament House for its annual Open Day on Sunday, 6 March 2016.
Mr O’Brien said the day offered visitors the chance to explore areas of Parliament House not usually open to the public.
“Visitors can sit in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council chambers as well as visit the Parliamentary library,” Mr O’Brien said.
“They can see the committee room, the Speaker’s and members’ offices and have lunch in the parliamentary gardens.
“There will also be a special opportunity to enjoy morning or afternoon tea in the Member’s Dining Room, something not many get to do.”
Mr O’Brien said this year’s open day celebrates the 160th anniversary of the Victorian Parliament.
“This is a great opportunity for Victorians to see their Parliament, tour the beautiful building and grounds and gain an appreciation of what goes on inside,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Entry is free and there will be exhibits from all departments.
“I encourage anyone who is interested to come make the most of the day.”
