The Nationals Gippsland South Youth Children Education Funding

Children’s activity funding up for grabs

With Children’s Week 2018 fast approaching the Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is urging local councils and not-for-profit organisations to apply for funding to help cover the costs associated with hosting activities or events.

Grants of up to $1,000 are available for activities or events that are offered free to families with children under 12 or to early childhood services or schools.

The theme for this year’s Children’s Week is Children’s views and rights are respected based on Article 12 of the United Nations Convention which allows children the right to have their opinions taken into account when adults are making decisions that affect them.

Mr O’Brien said this was a great opportunity for our local councils and not-for-profits to engage with our youth.

“As a father of school-aged children myself, I can appreciate the value of local activities that engage our youth.”

Applications close at 5pm on 7 September 2018.
