Blood donor bus in town
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien is urging locals to make an appointment to donate blood or plasma while the Red Cross Mobile Donor Centre is in Sale until the end of May.
Mr O’Brien said blood and plasma donations remained vital and continued to be allowed during current COVID-19 restrictions.
“If you are feeling well and haven’t been overseas in the last 28 days, then your donation is desperately needed and most definitely covered as essential,” Mr O’Brien said.
“The only exception is for donors over 70 who are asked to stay at home and self-isolate for their own protection.
“Blood only lasts 42 days after donated so it is important that people continue to give regularly if they can, particularly with one in three Australians requiring a blood or plasma transfusion in their lifetime.
“You are able to give blood as often as every 12 weeks and making an appointment is easier than ever with online bookings now available at my.donateblood.com.au. Alternatively, you can call 13 14 95.”
The mobile donor centre will be located at the Sale Greyhounds from 10-29 May.
